Irresponsible pet ownership is a problem that has been recognized worldwide and affects both wildlife and people.Feral dogs and pets that are not properly cared for by their owners have proven to be a problem for the Andean cat and other endangered species that shares its habitat. This problem is not just related to the dogs directly attacking the wild species but also when they act as vectors to parasite and pathogens that may affect whole populations.

AGA ‘s new program aims to reduce this risk to wildlife by promoting a One Health approach with dogs, that will work on developing responsible ownership and reducing the numbers of free-roaming animals. For this, we will work in close contact with local communities and animal welfare organizations promoting better health conditions for pets while reducing the population growth. More news coming soon!
